A collection of my favorite items that I NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT!!! From supplements, to beauty care, and healthy snacks, this is what I pack when we travel.
I’m kind of geekin out excited about this post. Ever read those, “what’s in my bag?” articles? Well, I’m giving you a sneak peak into my bag. This is exciting to me because just looking at this picture makes me happy; I love all of these products!!! As a nutritionist, I often get asked about my favorite snacks, or what I use for supplements. I am sharing with you the latest and greatest. I strictly read labels and ingredients of everything I put into my body!! This is not just food, but beauty products as well. I have several female clients I see that struggle with many aspects in life with health: this could be anything from weight loss, to autoimmune diseases, infertility, or general fatigue. Maybe some of them nail it with their exercise and clean diet, but still don’t feel quite right. This is where other aspects such as supplementation and beauty care products are key!! So without further rambling, let’s get into my bag. I’m traveling this week to Charleston for Spring Break fun with my family and for a Blogger conference, and here is what I packed!
Before I get into products, I am just going to mention my favorite snack EVER. RX Bars. I flippin love these. They are a newer product, and they stand well above the rest in taste and ingredients. I’m obsessed. My favorites are Coffee Chocolate, Chocolate Sea Salt, and Mint Chocolate. But I have yet to try a flavor I didn’t love. They can be found at most grocery stores now and run anywhere between $2-$3 (I’ve seen it cheapest at Trader Joe’s for $2). But great news!! You can get them even cheaper from their website: they will give you $5 off if you purchase a box + free shipping with the link above or click on the photo! Bonus!!! RX Bar has now introduced 3 new flavors! With any purchase on their website between now until Sunday, April 23rd, you can receive three free bars! One of each new flavor!
So now onto products. First off you’ll see this adorable light purple Lululemon Make-up bag. I wish I had a good link, but unfortunately they are all sold out! My girlfriend bought this for me as a Christmas gift, and I LOVE IT!!! They have several other fun small bags on their website. I also carry all of my toiletries and yoga mat in a bag I bought their years ago (like 7 years or so). It has been beat up and has traveled the world, and still looks incredibly awesome. Which brings me to my next tip: I NEVER leave home without my yoga mat. It didn’t quite make the picture because it’s too big 🙂 This is always a super easy exercise you can take with you anywhere! I use my subscription to yogaglo that has the best teachers in the World, and you can enjoy all different styles of yoga as well as class duration (5 mins-90 mins).
Here is my pack of supplements. I eat a very clean diet, but still find these products to help me tremendously. I believe that everyone benefits from a good quality multi-vitamin. There are so many options, that it’s overwhelming. My favorite is the multi from Life’s Abundance because it is a proprietary blend capsule that absorbs much easier than a tablet and contains only the most important nutrients (not a laundry list of things you don’t need).
My fish oil is also from Life’s Abundance and is HANDS DOWN the best fish oil on the market. It is so highly concentrated with 4g of fish oil per serving; something you will not find with other brands. Every batch is also tested and receives a 5 star rating by Independent third party organization (IFOS). BONUS: it has no fishy taste, just a pleasant citrus taste! Fish oil is so important because our standard American diet is so lacking in Omega 3’s and contains a high amount of Omega 6’s. This will help balance out your ratio Omega 6/Omega 3 ratio and protect you from inflammation and just about every chronic disease. I believe it’s a MUST for all people! Unless of course you eat salmon everyday (most people do not).
I also do an added dose of Vitamin D3 everyday, and I use drops for better absorption. I will also give this to my kids. I do at least 2000 IU’s per day, up to 5000IU’s in the winter.
The probiotic I use is from Garden of Life (can be found at most health food stores). I actually use a vaginal care blend because of my UTI and yeast infection issues I’ve dealt with my entire life. This probiotic saves me from getting them! It’s truly amazing. You can find it on Amazon or Thrive Market. The other women’s blend by Garden of Life is also a great option. I also drink 1/2 bottle of kombucha almost everyday, because I love it and it gives me additional probiotics. The best brand is Synergy. Many other brands sweeten their drinks with stevia (can’t stand the taste).
I also give my kids a daily probiotic! We use Smarty Pants brand for both a multivitamin and a probiotic. I love this product because it contains no artificial flavors, colors, or synthetics. And they are tasty!! My kids love them.
My beauty care regimen is pretty simple. I don’t wear a lot of make-up, but I also am very particular at what I put on my skin. Your skin is your largest organ, and loading it everyday with synthetic chemicals from most beauty products causes so much harm to the body! After living in Europe and realizing they ban over 1000 ingredients that are deemed “safe” in beauty products sold in the US, I was diligent about my research. I have seen first hand how beauty products build toxins in the body that are not only harming your skin, but possibly disrupting your hormones and impairing your body’s natural liver detoxification. I have seen clients who struggle with weight loss have success getting rid of these harmful toxins. They are in your make-up, your shampoos, your lotions, your deodorants, your face cream, your sunscreen, etc.
All that being said, I use Beauty Counter make-up and skin care. I love it because it makes my skin look amazing, and I know they carefully screen every one of their products and ban most ingredients that other companies don’t. I truly love all of their stuff, but just posting my everyday favorites:
Charcoal Soap for my daily face cleansing, and it’s such a reasonable price at $24, and lasts for months! BONUS: If you purchase this bar before the end of April, Beauty Counter will send you a FREE travel size gift of your choice!
Charcoal Face Mask: I’ve just discovered this because it’s a new product and fell in love!! I will use this mask twice a week. I will also use on my 9 year old daughter, perfectly safe for kids!
For those days or times of year when my skin is extra dry, I use these facial oils (3 different flavors) in addition to my day/night cream. They smell amazing and a bottle also lasts me all year! If you purchase one of the face oils before April 30th, Beauty Counter will send you a free gift of your choice to try one of their other amazing products!
Dew Skin Tint Moisturizer with SPF!! This stuff is like the Bobby Brown BB Cream I used to wear, without the chemicals. And the same price!
For my deodorant, I feel like I have tried EVERY natural deodorant out there. They all make me stink. Sorry, TMI, but I sweat a lot and workout. I recently came across this brand called Native and I love it!! They have free shipping on every order, and they will give you a free travel size on your first purchase when you click on the link above. $10 per stick!
Other randomness……..I am not sure how I went so long without a Swell bottle! I have the pretty resort bottle, but so many pretty colors and patterns to choose from. I also have the big daddy 25 oz bottle because I am crazy about drinking my water. It also holds an entire bottle of wine (haven’t done that yet, but that’s what my girlfriend uses hers for!). It keeps your water (or wine) cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours. And here’s your little nutrition tidbit: be sure to drink half your body weight in oz per day! None of this 8 glasses, that doesn’t work for everyone.
And that’s a wrap! I would love to hear about your favorite products. I love to try new snacks and products that have ingredients I approve.
