If you’ve been around Wholesomelicious for awhile, you know how much I value nutritious, delicious, and easy meals to feed my family. I spend a lot of time cooking my recipes in the kitchen, but as a busy mom and nutritionist, I need all the mom hacks and time saving tips possible. This is where Hungryroot comes in! Today I am sharing my honest review of Hungryroot’s delivery and meal service.

There are many days where I have very little time to get a healthy dinner on the table. My Hungryroot delivery has been so helpful for our family of 4! Hungryroot is a grocery delivery service that caters to busy people who want to cook more at home for healthier options, but don’t have the time to shop or meal prep.

You can try Hungryroot for yourself and get 40% off your first box with my code WHOLESOMELICIOUS.

How it works

Signing up for Hungryroot is an easy process, and I love that they were thorough with making sure I was getting foods that I want. Here is just a brief overview on how the process works:

  • Upon signing up, you take a quiz that answers questions on foods you like, any dietary restrictions, and how many people you feed. It also asks you preferences on flavors you prefer.
  • Hungryroot than populates a cart for you with a certain number of dinners (based on preference), lunches, breakfasts, and snacks.
  • The fun part is now here! You can look at all of these suggestions, and swap them out from their library of other options. Each meal or grocery item contains a certain number of points based on how much you’re spending, so you know when you fulfill your goal.

My first Hungryroot Box

Here is an example of what came in my box! I opted for 4 dinners, some breakfast options, and snacks. The first photo included the items I would need to make the 4 dinners. The second photo are some breakfast and snack options.

Here are the dinner options I chose:

  • NY Strip steak with sautéed veggies and blue cheese crumbles
  • High Protein vodka pasta with ricotta
  • Chicken Sausage and Ravioli
  • Thai Coconut Chicken and rice

Making a Hungryroot Dinner

As you can see in the dinner photo, these are ingredients that work together to make a meal. Typically, these only included 3-5 ingredients and meals that all took me less than 20 minutes!

One of my favorite meals was the high protein pasta with chicken sausage, vodka sauce, and ricotta cheese stirred in. This dinner came together in 15 minutes and one my family devoured. My teens are loving all the high protein recipes lately, so this one was perfect for us!

Reasons to love Hungryroot

  • I loved the variety of recipes and meals to select for my family
  • It was so convenient to have a box of curated dinner recipes + additional groceries that my family all enjoyed.
  • The price point is very reasonable! My first box was a $200 price point and I felt that I received a good bang for my buck. I also think that not going to the grocery score saves me from adding things I don’t need to my cart. With my 40% off discount code, this one feels like a no-brainer!
  • A wide range of groceries offered in addition to the recipes you make! This is way more than a meal kit delivery service.
  • The recipes were beyond easy. So while I’ll continue to use Wholesomelicious recipes many days of the week, having a few ultra fast and convenient options are perfect for those few nights where I need to hit the easy button.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you tried Hungryroot?
