30 minutes is all you need to make Sloppy Joes in the Instant Pot! This healthy and nutritious dinner is made with flavorful ground beef that is tangy with a bit of spice. Naturally sweetened, and a perfect way to pack in the protein! This versatile meal can be served in a bowl, over greens, or in a toast bun.
This is not your childhood recipe for Sloppy Joes. Remember those? I was not a fan. But adult, nutritionist, Amy has set out to create a Sloppy Joe recipe that is simple, and still really tasty!
This Instant Pot dinner recipe is just the one your family will want you to keep in the rotation. I’ve been using my Instant Pot on repeat lately for tasty weeknight meals like my 30 minute Chicken Tinga or Creamy Sun-dried Tomato Chicken. But these sloppy joes, they are special! The sauce is tangy with the addition of dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce, it’s lightly sweetened with ketchup and coconut sugar, and veggie forward with some sautéed onions and bell pepper.
Why you will love these Sloppy Joe’s!
- The entire recipe will take you less than 30 minutes with less than 10 minutes of prep time. Even with waiting for the Instant Pot to come to pressure!
- It’s hands off. You can set it and forget it.
- You will love the versatility! Make it a low-carb and high protein option and serve in a bowl. You can also serve in a bun or sandwich.
How to make Instant Pot Sloppy Joes
Instant Pot Sloppy Joes are so easy to make! Here is what you need to make them:
- Ground beef or ground turkey
- Oil
- Yellow onion
- Bell pepper
- Garlic
- Dijon mustard
- Coconut aminos
- Worcestershire sauce
- Brown sugar or coconut sugar
- Ground paprika
- Beef Broth
As I mentioned earlier, this recipe is very hands off! Start by selecting the saute function on the Instant Pot. Once the pot is hot, add in oil, onion, and bell pepper. Saute the veggies for a few minutes, then add in ground beef. Cook the ground beef until browned and select cancel.
Stir together the remaining ingredients and pour into the IP. Cook on high pressure for 6 minutes and use a quick release.
Serving and Storing
Serve Sloppy Joes in a toasted bun for a tasty sandwich, or serve in a bowl with cabbage or greens! I love the addition of pickles in this recipe. My Dill Pickle Salad would be a great addition to serve with sloppy joes!
You can store sloppy joes for up to one week in the fridge.
Can you make this in the slow cooker or stovetop?
Yes! For the slow cooker, you will want to brown the meat with the onion and bell pepper on the stovetop first. Then toss everything the remaining ingredients into the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours. For the stovetop, brown the meat with the onion and pepper, then pour in the remaining ingredients. For both variations you can cut the broth down to 1/3 cup.
