The Air Fryer is the absolute best way to make Chicken Wings! A super crispy coating creates the best texture. You’ll love this variation of Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Buffalo Sauce that is Paleo, Whole30, and Keto compliant.
It’s not January, unless I’ve made a gazillion buffalo chicken recipes. So hey friends, coming with you today with another way to enjoy Buffalo Chicken!!! You are all loving my Buffalo Chicken Casserole with Cauliflower Rice and my Buffalo Cauliflower Tots, that I thought it only appropriate we add another one to the mix: Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Buffalo Sauce!
My Air Fryer has been getting a great workout lately. To the point where I have left it out on the counter multiple days in a row (and I hate stuff on my counter!).
Why Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer:
The entire family has been loving the way our Air Fryer makes everything perfectly crispy. With good football games on last week, my boys requested something that I haven’t yet tried in the Air Fryer: Chicken wings!
Truth be told, I am not 100% on board with chicken wings. It’s a funny thing with me; my brain sees them as a greasy fast food. But to please my boys, I made them a batch of chicken wings (or 3), and I even ate some myself. And let me just tell you, I am now 110% on board with the Air Fryer method!!
They turned out perfectly crispy, not greasy at all, and had my favorite sauce on top!
How to make Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Buffalo Sauce:
So these really couldn’t be easier. There is not much prep involved in getting these ready to devour. You will need to gather up the ingredients:
- 2 lbs of chicken wings
- Oil spray like avocado oil or olive oil (can also use cooking spray)
- Butter or ghee
- Buffalo hot sauce
That’s it!!!
We start off by just placing the wings in the air fryer basket and cook at 380 for 20 minutes. I also pause about halfway to give the wings a little shake, and maybe flip over with tongs. Bump up the temperature to 400, and then cook another 10-15 minutes until nice and crispy.
During those last few minutes of cooking, you will melt the butter or ghee, and then combine with the buffalo hot sauce.
After the wings are done cooking, place in a large bowl and simply coat with the butter buffalo sauce. Place on a serving dish or plate, and dip into your favorite sauce! I actually prefer to dip into more buffalo sauce (ha!), but you can also dip into ranch dressing.
Can I make these in the oven?
No air fryer?? No problem. You can also make these in the oven and spreading out on a baking sheet. Brush with some avocado or olive oil before placing in the oven. Bake at 400 for 40 minutes. Make the sauce as you do above, and then coat to toss and serve.

Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Buffalo Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Chicken Wings
- cooking spray
- 1 cup buffalo hot sauce
- 2 tbsp butter or ghee
Instructions
-
Pat dry the chicken wings, and place inside the basket of your air fryer. Cook at 380 degrees for 20 minutes, pausing halfway to toss the wings in the basket.
-
Bump up the temperature to 400 degrees and cook another 10-15 minutes, or until nice and crispy.
-
Meanwhile, make the buffalo sauce. Melt the butter or ghee, and stir together with the buffalo sauce. It's helpful to have the hot sauce slightly warm or at room temperature, otherwise it hardens the melted butter or ghee.
-
Toss the hot chicken with the sauce in a large bowl. You can remove with tongs and serve, or place back in the air fryer for another few minutes so the sauce "sticks" more to the wings. Serve with extra wing sauce or ranch dressing.
